Hello Experts,

Can we import 2007 solution packages(.wsp files) using SPSource Tool. Actually I need to upgrade my 2007 wsp to 2010 wsp. Anyone earlier had such experience? Please guide me.

I have a list for which this is a contenttype. I did not create either the list or the contenttype. Unfortunately the contenttype does not show up under _layouts/mngctype.aspx at either at the site or site collection level. It only shows up under _layouts/listedit.aspx. As I understand it, this is because this contenttype has a parent. How can I force it to show up under _layouts/mngctype.aspx? I want to reverse engineer the content type using SPSource and in order to do that the CT must be found under _layouts/mngctype.aspx

I discovered this by accident after inadvertently creating all my source content in a subsite.

The -designsite parameter will accept a path to a susbite. Nice! :)

I am also having this same error. I ´ve previously created a custom list and after I deploy it, this error appears every time I try to change something in the deployed list.

Hi there, yes you can modify those files once it's generated them. It's mainly the .aspx file and not the manifest which is the benefit of using SPSource.

Hi all! I'm new to Sharepoint dev. so maybe it's a silly question. I use SPSource and WSPBuilder to deploy solution. My first try was to export a page layout, just add a label and then publish this solution. I followed SPSource_Starter_Guide_WSPBuilder for the WSPBuilder part and view file provision walkthrough for the page layout part. Everything was fine but when i tried to activate the feature, i got an error "Failed to instantiate file "mypage.aspx" from module "MyFirstPageFeature": Source path "MyFirstPageFeature" not found.".

I then noticed that the file mypage.Provisioner.xml that was generated had MyFirstPageFeature in the path attribute of the Module node. I then set it to blank (as in the walkthrough) and then deployed again and everything is ok.

Is it ok to manually edit the provisioner file?

In earlier versions of SPSource, I seem to remember associated content types being linked in schema.xml as a simple ContentTypeRef element. Now it looks like the whole content type is defined again in the ContentType element. This may or may not be an issue, but I've come across a couple things when dealing with lookup columns. I'll end up getting errors when trying to activate the feature (usually an internal one trying to update a field), or the document library's site columns won't be associated with the content type. Like I said this may not be an issue for most people since I'm doing some crazy stuff with lookup columns, but it's something to look out for.

@waldekm had done something similar. best to wait for them, as I stated before, the SPSource type functionality will be rolled into CKS:Dev if the team approve of it, I've been made part of the team now, just need time to do the work.

Can we get any tool from which we can get the content of the pages which is designed by SPD. I have logged the issue on CKS site; I don't know would they done any changes or not?

When I try to provision a new list instance, from a template which I've previously extracted with SPSource (latest version) I get the following exception:

Cannot complete this action.

Please try again. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.UpdateField(String bstrUrl, String bstrListName, String bstrXML)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.UpdateField(String bstrUrl, String bstrListName, String bstrXML)

If I create a new standard Custom List and add the content type to it, it works fine.

Any thoughts?

Waiting for a release of CKS:Dev before pushing this stuff in, not sure on their timeframes. CKS:Dev already has reverse engineer content types by right clicking on the server explorer.

VS2010 out of the box has a nice way to build up content types and list templates.

Any considerations to upgrade SPSource tool which would work for SharePoint 2010. I have tested this on beta it generates code but will not work with SharePoint 2010. Can we use this with WSPBuilder. WSPBuilder has been released for SharePoint 2010. When can we expect release of SPSource for SharePoint 2010

Maybe someone can confirm or deny what I think is happening.

My SP server is 64-bit and my SPSource seems to be 32-bit. Would this cause the issue??
